Five rivers every angler should fish in Mongolia

Mongolia has thousands of kilometres of rivers that see almost no fishing pressure. These five are a great place to start.

1. Eg River

Flowing out of Lake Khuvsgul, the Eg is famous for trophy taimen and wild lenok.

2. Delger Mörön

Remote, wide and beautiful. Excellent for multi-day rafting trips.

3. Onon River

Birthplace of Chinggis Khaan and home to healthy populations of lenok and grayling.

4. Orkhon River

Accessible from Kharkhorin, with waterfalls, volcanic canyons and good grayling fishing.

5. Tuul River (upper)

A short drive from Ulaanbaatar — perfect for a weekend escape.
